SDG Goal No 7 Workshop for 150 Youth Leaders in Nuwaraeliya

JLanka Technologies the pioneers in the Solar Power industry together with the Academy of Engineering and Green Technologies, a leading institution that offers courses in the fields of Engineering and Renewable Energy Technologies is in a mission to make a remarkable change of the awareness and capacity building in SGD Goal 7 by training up to 7000 youth leaders as “Renewable Energy Youth Messengers”.

Inaugurated on the 12th of August 2017 , International Youth Day the ceremony was held at the BMICH, Colombo with the participation of Youth Leaders of all provinces and districts in Sri Lanka with the initiative of “Sri Lanka – United Nations Friendship Organisation” (SUNFO) and the” Sustainable Development Goals Youth Network of Sri Lanka”(SDGNSL). This subsequently formed “Sustainable Development Goals Youth Councils” in Divisional Secretariat Areas with 21 Youth Officials to run councils by learning, and implementing SDG related programs and activities.

The first District Summit of the SDG Youth Network of Sri Lanka held on the 18th of February 2018 at the District Secretariat Conference Hall, Nuwareliya with the participation of 150 youth leaders, officials and guests from all 5 Divisional Secretariat areas in the Nuwaraeliya District concluded successfully.

The summit was addressed by the keynote speakers Ambassador of Peace Dr. Sir Deshapriya S. Wijetunge (Director General of SUNFO & Policy Advisor of SDGYNSL) and Sustainable Development Diplomacy Governor Hon. Kanaharaj Kanapathy Member of Central Provincial Council).

The highlight of the summit was the “Renewable Energy Youth Messenger” programme launch sponsored by the SDG Goal No 7 National Partner JLanka Technologies (PVT) Ltd and conducted by the “Academy of Engineering and Green Technologies”.

The AEGT workshop conducted by Mr. Jeewaka Galappaththi concluded by inducting 150 youth leaders as “Renewable Energy Youth Messengers”. The initiative of this was to ensure universal access to modern energy services, improved efficiency and increased use of renewable sources.

JLanka Technologies (Pvt) Ltd along with Academy of Engineering and Green Technologies will continue it’s CSR project by continuing this programme in all 25 districts throughout the year with a target to reach 7000 youth leaders for the Renewable Energy sector.
